Immigrating to Quebec

Immigration is a shared area of jurisdiction involving both the Quebec and Canadian governments. Dating back to April 1, 1991, the Canada-Quebec Agreement on Immigration regulates the sharing of responsibilities between the provincial and federal governments. In Quebec, the Department of Immigration and Cultural Communities (Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles/MICC) oversees the selection of immigrants and supports their integration.
